Trandolapril

Description:
Trandolapril is a group of drugs called ACE (angiotensin-converting enzyme) inhibitors. This drug works by relaxing blood vessels. This helps to lower blood pressure.

Indications:
To treat high blood pressure (hypertension), and to increase the survival after a heart attack.

Dosage:

Initial dose (patients not using diuretics): 0.5 mg by mouth (orally), 1 times daily
Maintenance dose: 1-2 mg by mouth (orally), 1 times daily
Maximum dose: 4 mg / day

Side Effects:
CV effects (hypotension, engioedema) CNS effects (fatigue, headache), GI effects (disturbance of taste); Securities row (persistent dry cough, upper Resp tract symptoms); Securities dermatological (skin rash, erythema multiforme, toxic epidermal necrolysis); Reaction hipersesitivitas; The effects on the kidney (kidney damage); electrolyte disorders (hyperkalemia, hyponatremia); Disturbances in the blood.

Special Instructions:

Patients with heart failure and those who might lack water and salt (diuretics or undergoing dialysis) may experience hypotension during the early stages of ACE inhibitor therapy. (Begin treatment only in the medical supervision; in these patients using low dose and make sure the patient in supine position)
Avoid use in patients with aortic stenosis or outflow tract obstruction and in general should be avoided in patients suspected of having actual renovaskular disease.
Use with caution in patients who have a history of descent or idiopathic angioedema.
Kidney function should be assessed prior to administration of ACE inhibitors and should be monitored during therapy. (Proteinuria in patients with kidney disease or who use high doses must be monitored on a regular basis)
